Livingston RFC Retain Rose Bowl
Wednesday, 03 January 2007

Linlithgow 0 - 51 Livingston

Livingston and Linlithgow have had a long standing New Year fixture going back 30 years or so. Originally they played for an egg cup trophy. This fixture was always arranged for the 2nd January with the venue alternating between Almond Park and Mains Park.

Eventually a proper trophy, rose bowl was instituted by Mike Williams (LIN) and Charlie Lovell (LIV) respective presidents. Alas, both have now departed.

Livingston’s higher fitness level showed going in to the second half, as Livingston racked up nine tries and three conversions in the New Year derby match. It was a fun game to play in and was played in the right spirit to kick off the New Year.  It was the 15th year running that Livingston have regained the Rose Bowl.
