Money stolen from school office

TWO bags of money were stolen from an office within Whitdale Primary School, Whitburn, between Monday September 4, and Friday, September 8.

The bags contained a total of £820.

Any witnesses to the incident, or any person who is able to identify the culprits is requested to contact Whitburn Police Station, 01501 770222 or anonymously telephone 'Crimestoppers' at 0800 555 111.

West Lothian couple's diamond wedding

WEST LOTHIAN couple Arthur and Cathie Walker celebrated their diamond wedding on Wednesday, September 6.

The couple, who have lived in their home at Glebe Road, Whitburn, for 57 years, met when they both worked in the SMT bus depot in Bathgate.

Cathie was a conductress and Arthur a mechanic/fitter.

They were married in Whitburn South Church by the Rev. McKinnon on September 6, 1946.

Councillor Bert Gamble presented them with flowers on behalf of West Lothian Provost Joe Thomas. And the Lord Lieutenant of West Lothian, Isobel Brydie, visited Arthur and Cathie to present a card from The Queen.

The couple have one daughter, Sadie, who is married to Jim and lives in Bathgate.
