East Calder man jailed for four years for shooting friend
Saturday, 28 October 2006
MICHAEL Lorans (50), of Queens Gardens, East Calder, has been jailed for four years for fatally wounding his friend, Graeme Baxter (32).

Lorans shot Baxter in the heart as he fired at his living room wall.

Baxter was killed when the pellet entered his heart.

The shooting sparked off a massive police hunt in the village.

Lorans had originally been charged with murder at the High Court in Edinburgh, but pled guilty to a lesser charge of culpable homicide.
